“No Place Like Home: Houses of Metro Vancouver” features a collection of masterfully hand-drawn eighty-five house illustrations in Metro Vancouver. The book also talks about the history of featured cities and the architectural styles of homes that were developed in Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver and West Vancouver. Each illustration is accompanied by my comments about the creative process and thinking to create a greater appreciation for the architectural details of local houses.

“No Place Like Home: Houses of Metro Vancouver” is a unique book that takes you on a captivating visual journey through the vanishing residential neighbourhoods of the area. The burgeoning cities necessitate housing solutions for their growing populations, leading to the conversion of family homes into towering apartment complexes. In this transformation residential architecture is often overlooked and forgotten. The houses of Metro Vancouver, with their distinctive designs and histories, carry a profound sentimental value for Vancouverites, creating a bond between the city and its residents. The book invites readers to appreciate everyday scenery's gentle beauty and shift focus away from pronounced beauty.
The book aims to preserve examples of residential architecture for future generations through lively portraits of houses. Providing a visual record ensures that these homes, often undervalued, are recognized for their cultural significance and as integral parts of our heritage. The book stands as an enduring tribute to the rich tapestry of Vancouver's architectural legacy. I share personal insights and stories behind each illustration, creating an atmosphere akin to a friendly chat with a neighbour or a stroll through a typical Vancouver neighbourhood. It's not just a book—it's a love letter to Vancouver's architectural heritage.
