An animated series for social media based on the fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffman, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The animation is inspired by my childhood memories of the New Year's celebrations in Russia.
The Nutcracker holds a special place in my heart for various reasons. As a child, my family had a tradition of seeing the ballet and watching the Soviet animated film during the holiday season. However, the most memorable experience was receiving a music box from my parents that featured Marie and the Nutcracker on a swan. This gift sparked my fascination with automatons and mechanical toys, leading me to become an animator.
For this project, I combined my memories with the Nutcracker story, creating authentic designs based on the era of E.T.A. Hoffman. To ensure accuracy, I referenced the description of his characters from the story and the fashion and architecture of his homeland.
